The Founder and General Overseer of Spiritlife Revival Ministries, Prophet Bernard Elbernard Nelson-Eshun, has issued a public apology to New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, following a prediction he made that failed to materialise.

The apology was conveyed in a Facebook post on Saturday, January 31, after provisional results from the NPP presidential primaries indicated that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was in the lead. Biblically, his apology and subsequent decisions are replicated as someone who has “rent his clothes and covered himself with sackcloth.”

In Isaiah 37:1 KJV, the Bible states that, “And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.” Elbernard’s decisions have been described as fitting this example in the Bible.

In the post, Prophet Nelson-Eshun admitted that he had publicly declared—through books, videos, and media interviews—that Kennedy Ohene Agyapong would emerge as the NPP’s flagbearer, a prediction he now concedes was inaccurate.

“I wish to address the inaccurate prophetic declarations I made concerning the New Patriotic Party presidential primaries. Through a book, videos, and media interviews, I stated that Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong would win the primaries and become the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party. That word did not come to pass. I missed it. I was wrong. I am deeply sorry, and I ask for your forgiveness.”

The prophet acknowledged that his pronouncements influenced many people who trusted his message, conceding that the failed prophecy had emotional, spiritual, and political consequences.

“I take full responsibility for this prophetic word. I sincerely apologise to everyone who trusted my word and was hurt, disappointed, or otherwise negatively affected.

“I am especially sorry to those who made decisions based on what I declared. I do not blame anyone or shift responsibility. I accept that this prophecy, as declared, failed.”

He said the outcome had triggered deep personal reflection and a reassessment of how prophetic revelations should be communicated publicly, particularly in politically sensitive situations.

Prophet Nelson-Eshun also extended an apology to believers in Ghana and around the world who felt disappointed or wounded by the prediction, while expressing gratitude to those who corrected him in love and continue to pray for him.

Bernard Elbernard Nelson-Eshun also announced that he will take a temporary break from pulpit ministry following the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries and his failed prophecy.

In what he described as an accountability statement, Prophet Elbernard disclosed that he will step back from public teaching, preaching, and pulpit ministry for a season, explaining that the decision is intended to allow time for reflection, prayer, counsel, and strengthened accountability.

The decision, he said, follows the outcome of the NPP presidential primaries, in which former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged as the leading candidate, contrary to an earlier public prophecy by the prophet that Kennedy Ohene Agyapong would win.

He emphasised that the break does not amount to abandoning his calling or ministry, stressing that he remains committed to personal prayer, study, and quiet pastoral responsibilities during the period. According to him, the season away from the pulpit is meant to facilitate realignment in growth, integrity, and spiritual discernment.

“In the same spirit of responsibility, 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐭 ministry. This is a deliberate and voluntary step to allow for reflection, prayer, counsel, and the strengthening of accountability in how prophetic revelations are received, interpreted, and communicated.”

Prophet Elbernard also expressed gratitude to the public and members of his ministry for their prayers, patience, and understanding, as he undertakes what he described as a necessary period of spiritual recalibration.
