A delegation from MTN Ghana and its mobile money subsidiary, Mobile Money Limited (MML), has donated GH¢200,000 in cash and items to the Muslim community in support of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr.

The delegation, led by the Chief Digital Officer of MTN, Ibrahim Misto, presented the donation to the National Chief Imam, Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, in Accra as a gesture of goodwill ahead of the holy period.

Presenting the items, Mr. Misto said the gesture was to extend warm greetings to the Chief Imam and the entire Muslim community as they prepared for Eid al-Fitr, the end of the sacred season of fasting and prayer.

He described Ramadan as a special period dedicated to prayer, sacrifice, and reflection, noting that it also promoted values of communal living, compassion, and unity.

Mr. Misto said the donation, comprising food items and cash, would also benefit Muslim communities in Kumasi and Takoradi, adding that the initiative formed part of MTN Ghana’s commitment to supporting key religious groups across the country.

“This partnership remains invaluable to us, and we are grateful for the continued support”, he added.

He further commended the Chief Imam for his role in promoting peace and stability in the country.

“Your wisdom and guidance continue to inspire unity and harmony among Ghanaians,” he added, while also praying for the continued prosperity of the nation.

As part of the initiative, Mr. Misto announced that MTN and MML would deploy teams within selected communities during Eid al-Fitr to educate the public on mobile money fraud prevention and provide support services.

In his response, the National Chief Imam expressed appreciation to MTN and MML for the timely gesture and their continued support for the Muslim community.

He prayed for peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in the country, describing it as a unique and commendable example worthy of emulation by other nations.

“All of us proceeded from Adam,” he said, urging Ghanaians to recognise their diversity and work together towards a common goal of national development.

The Chief Imam also prayed for the continued growth and success of MTN, MML, and their operations in the country.

Meanwhile, Karpowership Ghana has donated assorted food items to members of the Muslim community in Sekondi as part of its annual Ramadan support initiative, which aims to assist families during the holy month.

The donation took place at the Sekondi Naval Base Mosque, a few meters from the company’s Powership, bringing together community members, mosque leaders , , and representatives of Karpowership Ghana in a spirit of compassion and solidarity.

The food packages included bags of rice, cooking oil, tinned tomatoes, sugar, milk , and assorted drinks to support families as they observe the fasting period. Speaking during the presentation, the Communications Manager of Karpowership Ghana, Sandra Amartikar Amarquaye, noted that the gesture forms part of the company’s commitment to supporting communities within its operational areas.

“This mosque feels very much like home to us because the Powership is only a few meters away from here. As a company, Karpowership strongly believes in giving back to the communities in which we operate.
