The Ghana Police Service has announced a nationwide security operation ahead of this year’s Easter celebrations, with special focus on the Kwahu area, which attracts large crowds during the festive period.

In a press release dated April 2, 2026, and signed by the Director-General of Public Affairs, Deputy Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the Service said comprehensive measures have been put in place to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration.

Police officers have been deployed to event venues, recreational centres, and tourist sites in Kwahu and other parts of the country expected to experience high human and vehicular traffic.

According to the statement, operational teams have also been positioned along major routes to and from Kwahu. Motor traffic officers have been assigned to manage congestion and regulate traffic flow on roads that typically see heavy use during Easter.

The Service further noted that intelligence-led operations are ongoing nationwide to detect and respond swiftly to any criminal activity.

Motorists have been urged to comply with road traffic regulations, avoid excessive speeding, and refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol.

Members of the public were also advised to cooperate with officers on duty, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.

“The Ghana Police Service wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Easter and assures the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the festivities,” the statement said.

Emergency numbers remain 112 and 191, while road policing units can be reached on 0550323323 and 02755000156.
