Just two days after getting surprisingly selected to Brazil’s National Men’s Football Team’s squad to compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Neymar Dos Santos Jr. has picked up an injury.
The veteran Santos FC forward has dealt with injuries over the past three years, and the latest is to his right calf.
According to Santos’ head of medical, Rodrigo Zogaib, Neymar has suffered a 2-millimeter edema, causing swelling in his right calf.
The injury, according to reports, led to his omission from Santos’ 2-2 draw with San Lorenzo in the Copa Sudamericana on Wednesday.
He is also expected to miss Santos’ games against Gremio in the Brazilian League on Saturday, May 23, and Deportivo Cuenca in the Copa Sudamericana on Tuesday, May 26.
However, Neymar is expected to recover in time to play at the World Cup, where Brazil is in Group C with Haiti, Scotland, and Morocco.
