MP Asenso-Boakye supports education with major furniture donation to enhance learning conditions in Bantama schools

Kumasi, Monday, October 27, 2025 — The Member of Parliament for Bantama, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, has donated more than 1,000 dual desks and 100 sets of teachers’ tables and chairs to schools across the constituency to enhance effective teaching and learning.

This latest intervention adds to the MP’s ongoing investments in education, which have included scholarships for brilliant but needy students, construction and renovation of school infrastructure, and the introduction of the Asenso-Boakye Mock Examinations and Quiz Competition. These initiatives are aimed at expanding access, improving quality, and raising performance in Bantama schools.

Since assuming office, Hon. Asenso-Boakye has provided over 4,000 student desks and teachers’ furniture to schools within the constituency, underscoring his strong commitment to creating a more conducive learning environment for both teachers and pupils.

Speaking at a brief ceremony to hand over the furniture, Hon. Asenso-Boakye emphasized the importance of education as the foundation of opportunity and progress.

“Education is one of my top priorities because it is the key to success. Since I became MP, I have worked tirelessly to improve teaching and learning conditions in Bantama, and I will continue to do even more as resources permit,” he said.

He assured stakeholders that the provision of educational support would remain a central focus of his mandate, promising that similar interventions would continue in the years ahead.

In total, 27 schools benefited from the current distribution, including Kumasi Girls’ Senior High School, Asanteman SHS, Islamic SHS, Adventist SHS, Abrepo M/A JHS, Bantama Methodist JHS, and Hwidiem M/A JHS, among others. The MP further disclosed that private schools will also be prioritized in future allocations.

Hon. Asenso-Boakye also commended teachers for their dedication and sacrifice in nurturing students despite the many challenges they face. He encouraged head teachers to guide parents in helping students use social media responsibly to promote discipline and focus in their studies.

On behalf of school heads in the constituency, Mr. Frank Asiamah Adjepong, Headmaster of State Boys and Chairman of Heads of Basic Schools, expressed deep gratitude to Hon. Asenso-Boakye for his sustained support.

“The MP has been phenomenal in his commitment to improving education in Bantama. His consistent interventions over the years clearly demonstrate his dedication to ensuring better learning conditions for our children,” Mr. Adjepong noted, while appealing for additional desks and furniture to further improve classroom conditions.

A representative of the Metropolitan Education Directorate also lauded the MP for his efforts, stressing that such interventions play a vital role in improving teaching outcomes and empowering the next generation.

He further encouraged Hon. Asenso-Boakye to continue prioritizing education, noting that it remains the surest path to youth empowerment and long-term community transformation.
