A Circuit Court at Sefwi Bodi in the Western North Region has remanded a man police believe is behind a string of violent robberies in parts of the Juaboso District.
The suspect, Victor Biney, popularly known as Abeiku, was ordered into custody on Thursday, December 18, 2025, after being arraigned over his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on miners at Sefwi Antobia.
Presiding judge, His Honour Frank Asiedu Nimako, turned down a bail application filed by the defence, resulting in Biney’s continued detention. He is expected to reappear before the court on January 15, 2026.
Biney, who is well known in Juaboso and surrounding communities, is said to present himself as a spiritualist. Police say he claims to provide protective charms and “black powers” to clients seeking immunity from gunshots and cutlass attacks.

According to law enforcement sources, his arrest followed weeks of investigations into a violent robbery at a mining site in Sefwi Antobia, with subsequent inquiries linking him to several other robbery incidents within the Juaboso area.
One of the cases under investigation includes a daylight robbery at a wholesale shop, during which one person was shot dead and large sums of money were allegedly stolen.
Apart from the current charges, the suspect is also facing a separate criminal case at the Bibiani Circuit Court, where judgment is expected on December 22, 2025.
The Juaboso District Police Command has assured residents that investigations are ongoing, adding that efforts are being intensified to arrest other suspects believed to be part of the robbery syndicate.
