A high-ranking member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a top appointee in the current John Dramani Mahama Administration, (Name Withheld), is alleged to have recently purchased a house in an expensive neighbourhood in the capital city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai.
The appointee is also alleged to have purchased three luxury vehicles. First is a $500,000.00 Rolls-Royce Cullinan with an orange interior, an ultra-luxury SUV often cited as one of the most expensive and refined vehicles in its class. It features a potent twin-turbocharged V12 engine, the signature “magic carpet ride” air suspension, and a highly customizable, opulent interior.
Second is a 2025 Rolls-Royce Phantom valued at about $450,000.00. The Rolls-Royce Phantom is described as a vehicle with the pinnacle of ultra-luxury, featuring a powerful twin-turbo V12 engine, unparalleled bespoke customization, and advanced technology like a camera-based suspension for a “magic carpet ride,” offering immense space, supreme comfort, and commanding presence with iconic design elements and extensive personalization options for discerning buyers.
The third car is the 2025 Cadillac Escalade-V valued at about $170,000.00. The 2025 Cadillac Escalade is a refreshed luxury SUV with major tech upgrades, featuring a massive 55-inch curved pillar-to-pillar display, new vertical headlights, distinct grilles, available 24-inch wheels, and Super Cruise hands-free driving, while maintaining powerful engine options (including a supercharged V8 in the V-Series).
The government appointee is believed to have travelled to Dubai in the last month. During this visit, the appointee lived in his newly acquired home, and the said vehicles were parked there. He was picked up from the airport by his receiving party in the 2025 Cadillac Escalade-V.
Sources familiar with the development indicate that the appointee is believed to have purchased the house and vehicles through a deal he brokered with a businessman domiciled in Dubai, but with business interests in Ghana, in one of the big sectors of the economy. The appointee is also alleged to have already negotiated the purchase of an acre of land at a prime location in the Greater Accra.
The government appointee in question is also believed to be preparing to make similar purchases in the United States (US) as part of his retirement plan from politics once the NDC is out of office. The flashy lifestyle of the government appointee and recent luxury acquisitions are raising eyebrows within the NDC, with some calling for the appointee’s removal from office.
If these allegations are proven, the development will most certainly make a mockery of the anti-corruption stands taken by President John Dramani Mahama since he assumed office for his second term as president of the Republic. Some political commentators are also asking whether or not the President will act decisively on developments surrounding his appointee.
