Ghana forward Brandon Solomon Clarke Thomas-Asante has tasted defeat for the first time this season at club level, with Coventry City’s winning run coming to an end.
The Black Stars player featured in Coventry’s 3-2 loss to Wrexham; before the loss, Coventry had won eight and picked up four draws in 12 games. Wrexham striker Kiefer Moore scored a hat-trick of goals in the win.
The loss keeps Coventry at 28 points, but second-ranked Middlesbrough could match Coventry’s point tally should they beat Watford in their contest on Saturday, November 1.
However, a significant goal difference of +16 realistically means that Coventry will maintain first place in the standings.
Thomas-Asante, who has played a key role in Frank Lampard’s team’s brilliant run so far in the 2025-2026 season with nine goals and three assists, played 67 minutes in the loss to Wrexham.
The 26-year-old played 13 of 18 passes accurately but lost possession 10 times and won just six ground duels in a somewhat muted performance. Coventry take on Sheffield United on Tuesday, November 4.
