This follows a plea for an extension of time made by his lawyers, led by Dr. Justice Srem Sai of the Praetorium Solicitors.

An Accra High Court has given the convener of the Fix the Country Movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, one more week to file his defense in a defamation case brought against him by the National Security Minister, Kan Dapaah.

This follows a plea for an extension of time made by his lawyers, led by Dr. Justice Srem Sai of the Praetorium Solicitors.

Mr. Dapaah has sued Oliver for defamation, seeking damages of GHC 10,000,000.00 following a bribery claim made against him by the latter in September last year.

When the case was called today, the defendant’s counsel, Srem Sai told the court that their processes had suffered a setback and thus asked for an adjournment to be able to file their defense and counterclaims.

The court presided over by Justice Joseph Adu Agyemang, thus gave the defendant one week to file his defense, awarded a cost of GHC 3,000 against him, and adjourned the case to January 24, 2024.

The plaintiff’s motion for default judgment was dismissed at the last court sitting.

The court explained that the rules of the court do not lend support for declaratory relief in such a matter.
