Members of the youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kpandai on Monday took to the streets, urging party leadership to seek a review of the Supreme Court ruling that overturned a High Court decision annulling the 2024 Kpandai parliamentary election won by the New Patriotic Party’s Matthew Nyindam.
The protesters marched through the principal streets of Kpandai, chanting “No Nsala, no NDC in Kpandai,” as they pressed for swift and decisive action from the party’s national leadership.
They insisted that the NDC must adopt a firm stance as the governing party and reject the recent Supreme Court ruling unless it results in a rerun of the parliamentary election in the constituency.
The group also called on party leadership to apply for a review of the judgment and enforce discipline among constituency executives, whom they accused of failing to adequately represent the interests of party members.
According to the youth group, the protest was aimed at safeguarding the party’s credibility and seeking justice for its supporters in Kpandai.
Demand for review
Speaking to the media after the march, leaders of the youth group urged the party’s national executive and legal directorate to file for a judicial review once the full reasoning of the Supreme Court ruling is made public on February 6, 2026.
In a press statement, the group maintained that it had a strong legal case at the Tamale High Court.
They argued that the earlier High Court ruling in favour of the NDC was grounded in “sound legal reasoning,” citing alleged defective gazette notifications, inconsistencies in publication dates, and what they described as the Electoral Commission’s (EC) failure to discharge its constitutional duty of neutrality.
Despite their strong demands, the youth group stressed their commitment to peace and constitutional order, urging supporters to remain calm while legal processes continue.
“We remain committed to peace, legality, and constitutionalism. But peace must never be confused with silence in the face of injustice. Kpandai deserves justice,” the group declared.
