As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gears up for its last internal elections ahead of the 2024 polls, prominent businesswoman Claudia Kwarteng Lumor, the only female parliamentary aspirant in the Oforikrom constituency, is determined to serve her people and secure more votes for the governing party.

Lumor, 43, a publisher and founder of Kollage Media, subjected herself to the rigours of vetting on Thursday (5 January) expressed her commitment to the party and outlined her vision for the constituency.

In her pursuit to contribute to the political landscape, Lumor emphasized the importance of more women taking on active roles in politics. Despite her successful 13-year career in business, including founding Glitz Africa under Kollage Media, Lumor sees politics as an avenue to serve her constituents.

“I want to serve the people of Oforikrom, Ashanti Region, and beyond,” she declared, showing her trust in the NPP as the party to secure the future of her constituents.

Highlighting her achievements in the constituency, the NPP stalwart expressed her intent to initiate more developmental projects, ensuring inclusiveness and equitable distribution of resources.

“Oforikrom has the first Astroturf through my lobbying, and I have attracted more projects into the constituency with my lobbying and network. I intend to do more if I am given the nod to lead. As the constituency has a large Muslim community with a lot of women where sometimes they feel left out, I want to build governance where everyone feels included and not left behind,” the aspiring MP highlighted.

She added, “I am a UN goodwill ambassador working with a lot of young people and I want to continuously do that. want to work with the youth and do better for them when it comes to education and skills training. There are a lot of research institutions in the constituency, and we can tap into the wisdom and knowledge from these campuses to better the lives of the people. If we better their knowledge, we better their lives and delegates will also be imparted thereby achieving a better electoral process.”

Lumor is facing four other male aspirants in the upcoming parliamentary primaries. She is tipped to win the slot after sitting MP Emmanuel Marfo joined the list of growing MPs in the Ashanti Region who did not seek re-election.

Appealing to delegates, she called for a more intentional approach in electing candidates who can lead the party to appreciate more votes for the NPP presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Lumor also envisions a future where her leadership brings positive change and paves the way for more women to engage in politics.
