The University of Ghana (UG) has initiated internal disciplinary processes against two senior lecturers, Professor Ransford Gyampo and Dr George Domfe, following their public confrontation on a live television programme.
The action comes less than 24 hours after both academics posted public apologies on their social media accounts.
In a statement issued on Friday morning, November 21, 2025, the university announced it had invoked the University of Ghana Statutes (2024) and the Code of Conduct for Academic Senior Members (2011) to investigate the incident.
Management said it took note of a widely circulated video from the November 15, 2025, edition of TV3’s The Key Points, where a panel discussion between Prof. Gyampo and Dr Domfe descended into a heated personal exchange.
“The University of Ghana demands high standards of professionalism, integrity, and decorum from all faculty and staff, and expects all members of the University community to uphold these values in both public and
private engagements.”
“Management remains committed to safeguarding the dignity of the University and preserving public confidence in the institution,” the statement added.
The university confirmed that appropriate disciplinary measures will follow the conclusion of the internal review.
