A 34-year-old trader, Joseph Baadah, has appeared before the Adabraka District Court for allegedly wearing a military uniform in an attempt to impress a nurse at the 37 Military Hospital.

Baadah admitted in court that he is not a soldier and said he donned the uniform to woo a nurse he had recently met.

He has been charged with using military accoutrements without lawful authority and falsely pretending to be a public officer. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 with sureties. He is scheduled to reappear before the court on March 24, 2026.

Presenting the case, Chief Inspector Apeweh Achana told the court that the complainant, WOI Fiamegu Mascow of the Military Police Detachment, confronted Baadah after observing his suspicious appearance at the hospital’s Dispensary Gate at about 6:00 p.m. on February 8, 2026.

According to the prosecution, Baadah was dressed in a camouflage uniform paired with slippers and had no rank, lanyard, name tag, or shoulder badge—details that immediately aroused suspicion. Subsequent checks confirmed that he was a civilian.

He was arrested and taken to the Military Police Headquarters at Burma Camp for interrogation before being handed over to the Nima Divisional Police.

In his caution statement, Baadah disclosed that he purchased the uniform from a secondhand dealer known as “Fose Bale” at Kantamanto Market. He maintained that he wore it solely to impress the nurse.
