Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is reportedly receiving medical treatment after a shooting incident involving her vehicle on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
The incident is said to have occurred near the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, where supporters had reportedly gathered as part of efforts to install him as the successor to the late founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Emeritus Kwadwo Safo.
According to sources, tensions escalated at the premises, prompting officers from the Dome District Police Command to respond following reports of a potential security threat.
Eyewitnesses claim that Adwoa Safo was in the area when unidentified armed men allegedly opened fire on her vehicle. The assailants are reported to have discharged several rounds of ammunition during the attack.
Reports indicate that one of the bullets grazed the former lawmaker near her neck, after which she was rushed to a medical facility for treatment.
Sources close to the former MP say she is in stable condition and responding well to medical care.
The incident comes amid an ongoing succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo family following the death of Apostle Emeritus Kwadwo Safo. Efforts to appoint a new leader have reportedly generated disagreements among family members, with some contesting attempts to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as head of the mission.
