Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has assured that an NPP government, if returned to power, will complete the Agenda 111 health infrastructure project initiated under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The project, regarded as a flagship initiative, seeks to deliver district hospitals in underserved areas, with each facility designed as a 100-bed hospital and equipped with residential quarters for medical staff.
Dr. Bawumia explained that by the end of 2024, substantial progress had been made on many of the hospital sites, but construction had since stalled under the current NDC administration.
“Many of the hospitals had reached advanced stages of construction by the close of 2024, but progress has stalled. The NPP remains committed to delivering Agenda 111 to expand access to quality healthcare across the country,” he stated.
Addressing constituency executives and former party officials in the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Dr. Bawumia reiterated that completing Agenda 111 will remain one of the NPP’s top priorities.
The Agenda 111 project was officially launched by Nana Addo on August 17, 2021, to expand access to quality healthcare nationwide.
Each hospital is planned as a standard 100-bed facility with accommodations for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers, with the initial goal of completing them within a year.
However, several years on, many of the promised hospitals remain unfinished.
