The Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) has appointed Dr Eric Oduro Osae as its new chief executive officer (CEO). ICAG disclosed the new appointment in a post on its official Facebook Wall on Monday, 5 January 2026.
In the post, the ICAG noted that it was pleased to announce the appointment. The institute further urged all its members to note the appointment and offer their support to the new CEO.
“Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), is pleased to announce the assumption of office of Eric Oduro Osae, FCA (Gh) as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Institute, effective Monday, 5 January 2026.
“The new CEO is a highly accomplished Chartered Accountant, Lawyer, Governance Expert, and Public Financial Management Specialist with over 25 years of distinguished professional and Public Sector experience spanning Accounting , Auditing, Law, Corporate Governance, Public Finance, and institutional reform,” the official communique from the ICAG read.

“He is a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana, and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana, with a strong record of service to both national and international institutions.
“Prior to his appointment, the new CEO served as the Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) of the Republic of Ghana. He currently serves as an Audit and Assurance Advisor to the United Nations as a Member of the Independent Audit Advisory Committee (IAAC) of the UN General Assembly.
“In 2024, he was appointed by the United Nations as a Governmental Expert on Anti-Corruption under the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), contributing to country assessments of member states’ implementation of anti- corruption measures,” the ICAG statement further read.
Accroding to the ICAG communique, the newly appointed ICAG CEO “holds a Doctorate in Political Economy, a Master of Laws (LL.M) etc. and has authored and presented over ninety (90) papers on Accounting, Auditing, Governance, Public Finance, and Development at local and international fora.
“He has also served the Institute of Chartereo Accountants, Ghana, as an Examiner and Moderator in Public Sector Accounting and Finance, contributing dlirectly to the development of the profession.”
The ICAG statement concluded by calling “on all stakeholders including members, staff, students, regulators, employers, development partners, the media and the general public to lend their full cooperation and support to the new Chief Executive Officer as he undertakes his mandlate to further position ICAG as a leading Professional Accountancy Organisation in Ghana and beyond. The Institute looks forward to a productive and transformative tenure under the CEO’s leadership.”
Dr Eric Oduro Osae, previously served as the Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA). He exited the IAA on 17 April 2025.
In a formal notice of his exit, Dr Oduro Osae expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders he has worked with since his appointment in 2020.
“This is to inform all stakeholders that I have today, 17 April 2025, exited from the service of the Agency as Director-General.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank all of you for the support, advice, and the opportunity to serve God and country,” Dr Oduro Osae’s letter read.
Dr Osae, a governance and Public Financial Management (PFM) expert, a Chartered Accountant and Lawyer was
appointed Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency in 2020.
Before his appointment, he served as the UNDP appointed Technical Advisor on Governance to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) from 2017-2020.
