Atomic Eagle Limited has strengthened Zambia’s uranium credentials after drilling confirmed extensive shallow mineralisation at its Muntanga East target, lifting prospects for near-term resource growth.

The ASX-listed explorer said results from its first drilling campaign at Muntanga East in more than a decade outlined a broad, flat-lying mineralised system close to surface, supporting the project’s development potential. T

Standout intersections included 24.1 metres at 323 parts per million eU₃O₈ from 13.4 metres, alongside a higher-grade interval of 6.5 metres at 1,230 ppm from 10.6 metres.

The drilling programme comprised 75 holes totalling 4,799 metres. Results revealed a mineralised body extending roughly 1,000 metres along strike and 600 metres across, with thicknesses reaching up to 20 metres.

Most of the uranium mineralisation lies within 50 metres of the surface, a profile that supports bulk, open-pit mining.

A maiden Mineral Resource Estimate for Muntanga East is scheduled for release this quarter. The area sits within a broader licence that already hosts a 40-million-pound indicated and measured U₃O₈ resource, anchoring Atomic Eagle’s development plans.

Muntanga East is located northeast of the main Muntanga and Dibbwi East deposits and shares the same geological setting within the Escarpment Grit Formation. The host unit has consistently delivered shallow uranium mineralisation across the district, reinforcing confidence in the new results.

Earlier exploration had flagged uranium potential but lacked sufficient data to define scale and continuity. The latest drilling has filled those gaps, confirming that the target can be advanced rapidly with relatively modest additional work.

Strategic timing for uranium markets

The discovery comes as uranium reasserts itself as a strategic commodity in the global energy transition. Nuclear power is increasingly viewed as a cornerstone of low-carbon electricity generation, driving demand for uranium amid constrained supply growth due to long development timelines and geopolitical uncertainty.

“We’re delighted with the results from Muntanga East, where a modest drill program has quickly outlined shallow, flat-lying mineralisation in close proximity to the core resources underpinning the project,” said Atomic Eagle chief executive Phil Hoskins.

“The results demonstrate our exploration strategy, which concentrates on bulk, open-pittable mineralisation, while the upcoming resource deliverable for this quarter will advance our resource development initiatives.”

Analysts see Zambia as well-positioned to capitalise on the uranium upswing. The country has a long-established mining framework, improving infrastructure and access to export routes, all of which lower development risk compared with frontier jurisdictions.

The Muntanga licence area benefits from road access, nearby power supply, and established logistics corridors, strengthening its appeal as a scalable uranium development. New shallow discoveries that can be integrated into existing plans are increasingly attractive to utilities seeking medium-term supply security.

If Muntanga East is designated as a defined resource, market watchers say it could reinforce investor confidence in Zambia as a credible uranium jurisdiction.

At a time when the global nuclear fuel market is prioritising stability, scale, and speed, the project adds momentum to Zambia’s growing role in future energy supply chains.
