The Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah has paid a glowing tribute to the late Apostle Emeritus Professor Ing. Kwadwo Safo, describing him as an extraordinary visionary whose life was devoted to the upliftment of humanity and the welfare of society.

Receiving a delegation from the family of the revered inventor, industrialist, traditional leader and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission at the Presidency on Friday, May 29, 2026, Hon. Debrah said Apostle Safo was a man who “carried the burdens of many upon his shoulders and wore the welfare of others as his crown.”

According to him, the late statesman of faith and innovation was a tireless architect of human flourishing who dedicated his life, wealth, knowledge and strength to creating opportunities for others.

“He was prepared to spend and be spent, sacrificing comfort, wealth and strength to build a world where every person could live with dignity, opportunity and hope. His life was a testament to selfless vision, a candle that burned itself away so that others could see the light,” the Chief of Staff remarked.

Reflecting on his personal encounters with the late Apostle, Hon. Debrah recalled fond memories of evenings at Taifa, where Apostle Safo would organize social gatherings and personally play musical instruments to entertain residents and visitors alike.

“He believed that beyond hard work, people needed moments of joy and relaxation. Every evening, people from all walks of life gathered, and he would use music and fellowship to bring the community together,” he recounted.

The Chief of Staff also narrated an incident from his days in the tourism industry when he received a group of international visitors and urgently required transportation.

“Without hesitation, it was the Great Imperial Transport Service, owned by Apostle Safo, that provided the bus. Such acts of generosity defined his character,” he said.

Hon. Debrah noted that Apostle Safo’s benevolence transcended family, community and regional boundaries, touching countless lives across Ghana and beyond.

He therefore, described as fitting calls for a funeral that reflects the immense national impact of the celebrated inventor and philanthropist.

He assured the family that government would provide the necessary support to ensure a befitting farewell for a man whose legacy has become deeply woven into Ghana’s industrial, agriculture, technological and spiritual history.

The visit by the family was to formally inform government about the funeral arrangements for the late Apostle Emeritus Prof. Ing. Kwadwo Safo.

Leading the delegation was the Head of the Safo Family and former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, who explained that extensive consultations had been undertaken following the passing of the Kristo Asafo leader on September 11, 2025.

She noted that given the enormous following and national stature of the late Apostle, considerable engagement with family members, traditional authorities, church leadership and stakeholders was required before finalizing the funeral schedule.

Hon. Adwoa Safo disclosed that with the guidance and wise counsel of the Asantehene, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the family has settled on dates for the final funeral rites.

According to her, the traditional burial rites, known as “Doteyie,” will be held on July 30, 2026, at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region, where a grand mausoleum and monumental edifice have been constructed as the final resting place of the revered leader.

The main funeral service is scheduled for July 31, 2026, at the Independence Square in Accra and is expected to attract dignitaries from across Ghana and the international community.

The final phase of the funeral observances will take place on August 8, 2026, with a thanksgiving service in Kumasi, ending a national farewell to one of Ghana’s most celebrated inventors, industrial pioneers and spiritual leaders.

Apostle Kwadwo Safo leaves behind a towering legacy of innovation, faith, entrepreneurship and community development that continues to inspire generations of Ghanaians.
