The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Foster Owusu, also known as “Master Pee,” in connection with the possession of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs, police said Tuesday.
The arrest followed a targeted operation by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit in Pankrono, Kumasi, conducted around 7 p.m. on 5 April based on intelligence reports aimed at curbing illicit drug activity.
Police said officers apprehended Owusu as he tried to leave a single-room facility where a search uncovered 49 compressed, sellotaped parcels of dried leaves concealed in bags. The substances are suspected to be narcotics and will be sent to the Police Forensic Science Laboratory in Accra for analysis.
Owusu denied owning the drugs, claiming the room belonged to two women, and is assisting police with investigations. Authorities are working to locate the other individuals named by the suspect.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to cracking down on drug-related crimes and urged the public to provide credible information to support enforcement efforts.
