Parliament has mourned the death of the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Naser Toure Mahama, describing it as a profound loss to the House, the nation, and the people he served with dedication.

In a statement issued on Sunday, January 4, 2026, on behalf of the Speaker, the leadership of Parliament and the Parliamentary Service, the House said Ghana had lost a committed public servant whose contributions to national development and constituency advocacy were widely acknowledged.

The statement described the late MP as a principled and hardworking legislator who discharged his duties with integrity, responsibility, and a strong sense of service to his constituents. His active participation in parliamentary debates, support for development initiatives, and sustained efforts to improve the welfare of residents of Ayawaso East were cited as key elements of his legacy.

Parliament further noted that Mr Mahama exemplified the ideals of service and philanthropy, adding that his impact within the House and beyond would remain memorable.

Extending condolences to his family, parliamentary colleagues, constituents, and all those affected by his passing, Parliament assured them of its prayers and support, praying that “the Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest and gives his loved ones the strength to bear this great loss.

The House also appealed to the media and the public to respect the privacy of the bereaved family and refrain from sensationalism during the period of mourning.
