Three of the six suspects who escaped from custody at the Adabraka Police Station in Accra have been re-arrested, police have confirmed.
The remaining three suspects are still at large, with a manhunt currently underway to apprehend them.
Police have also dismissed reports linking the escapees to the murder case involving the father-in-law of Sammy Gyamfi. According to authorities, the individuals involved in that case were never held at the Adabraka Police Station, and therefore have no connection to the escape.

“The Command has initiated a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape. It has intensified a manhunt to arrest the remaining three escapees and ensure they are brought to justice,” a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Relations for the Greater Accra Command, said.
The police have urged the public to provide any credible information on the whereabouts of the remaining suspects to the nearest police station.
Murder suspects still in custody
In a separate statement, the Western Central Police Command clarified that suspects in the murder of Andrew Amankwah—father-in-law of Sammy Gyamfi—at Ohwim in Kumasi remain in custody.
They have been remanded and are scheduled to reappear in court on May 7, 2026.
The accused are Kojo Amponsah, also known as Kamakazie; Emmanuel Appiah, alias Taller; and Tanko Bashiru, alias TK.
